Community Councils in Edinburgh

Edinburgh Association of Community Councils (EACC) was formed in 2003 to provide a forum where Edinburgh's community councils could meet to discuss issues of common interest and, where appropriate, speak with a common voice.

Since the introduction of community planning in Edinburgh in 2007, individual Community Councils are represented on each of the City's Neighbourhood Partnerships and also represented on The Edinburgh Partnership (the strategic body which oversees community planning city-wide).

Edinburgh Community Council representatives are elected for a period of three years. Each community council receives an annual grant from the City Council intended to cover its administrative expenses.

There are currently 41 Community Councils operating in Edinburgh out of a possible 46 areas.

Firrhill Community Council, in the Colinton / Fairmilehead Local Authority Ward falls under the Pentlands Neighbourhood Partnership, along with Pentland Hills Ward. The convener of the Pentlands Neighbourhood Partnership is Councillor Jason Rust
